Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree of English literature. Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976, she joined the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). The following year, she was general reporter at NBC News in Washington. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was made the Chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell is a former panelist as well as presenter of the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debate in 1988 with George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to honor her achievements in the field of journalism. In 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize for her work in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to cover White House stories for NBC News during the presidency of Ronald Reagan as president between 1981 and 1988. Mitchell reported on a variety of important stories including the Iran Contra scandal, fiscal tax reforms, as well as arms control. She traveled along with Ronald Reagan many times to summits and debate topics like and the Iran Contra controversy.
