Katy Perry..........................Katy Perry original name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, (born October 25 1984 Santa Barbara California U.S.) American pop singer who gained fame for a string of anthemic and often sexually suggestive hit songs as well as for a playfully cartoonish sense of style. Perry's early attempts to become a star in the mainstream were unsuccessful. The singer has been signed by 2 different recording companies, but was dropped before releasing any of her music. Capitol Records did release Perry's Ur So Gay, which garnered modest attention in 2007 because of its humorous title. I kissed a Girl - an ode of curiosity about sexuality - made available a few months after. The track featured a raunchy electro-pop sound, and had a strong position. The song was controversial and critics were critical of the song for promoting relationships between gay men and other charged that it depicted a sexually explicit scene that enticed men's desires for sexuality among females. Nevertheless the combination of sensuality and polished music helped I Kissed a Girl become a number one hit in multiple countries powering the album sales of the Boys (2008). The sharp, bouncey second track was extremely popular. The album that Perry composed in large part was sold to over 3 million people.
